In this area, I am studying the subject of forgiveness. Forgiveness is something I have struggled with for a long time. As a teenager, I told an adult that for me forgiveness was easy. She wisely told me not to say things like that, because forgiveness is not an easy thing. Not long after that conversation I learned just how difficult forgiveness can be. I found myself in circumstances that I could not forgive others for.

I’ve seen news stories of people forgiving others who killed family members or some other horrific crime, and I’m pretty sure I would not be able to forgive if I was in that situation.

The reason, I’m including a page here on it is because, when I have talked with other Christians on the subject or read books on the subject I get different answers. Some have made it seem so easy, that I have thought “Sure, I can do that” only to find that it still isn’t that easy. I want to find what forgiveness looks like, how others have successfully forgiven, etc.

I have also been told that to forgive doesn’t mean necessarily to continue to have a relationship with the person who hurt you. This is where I’m struggling, it sounds too easy. Jesus forgives me, and wants to have a relationship with me, even though he knows I will continue to fail Him. So if that is what his forgiveness looks like, then why would mine be any easier.

So my journey begins to understand……
